Theater Workshop
Why Theater Workshop? Our theater arts program teaches kids more than just performing skills – participation in theater translates into learning important life skills necessary for school and self-advocacy – skills they can use immediately and into adulthood.
Theater teaches kids:
· To be CONFIDENT speaking in front of others and communicating their ideas, thoughts and needs.
· SOCIAL SKILLS like teamwork, active listening, and getting along with people who may be different from them.
· A strong WORK ETHIC. They practice organizational and time management skills by juggling their academic and after school activities successfully.
· To have FUN! Hard work is rewarded with a theater production they can be proud to be a part of. They develop a supportive community of friends across
different grade levels.

Pre-Production to TWS: Is a FREE introduction program to Theater Workshop. The curriculum is designed to build a theater vocabulary and comfort on stage. This workshop is lots of fun, games and making new friends. There is no performance at the end of the course. Successful completion includes student’s attendance record, cooperative participation and respect for staff and fellow cast members. Pre-Production registration is currently closed.
Production TWS: Theater Workshop Production is an inclusive after-school theater arts enrichment program self funded by collected registration fees and ticket sales. Directed by Stacey Fix, TWS presents original plays written for the specific cast. Students work together to develop a creative community with individual challenges and mutual goals. There are no auditions or prior theatrical experience required to participate. The program encourages an appreciation for theater arts by building an ensemble based upon theater disciplines such as creative expression through movement, improvisation, character development, stage direction, and sharing an appreciation of other’s efforts while building self-confidence. Financial aid and scholarships are funded by WORKSHOP ARTS INC. and offered to families who require assistance. Free performances are presented during the school day for all NES students.
