Rehearsal Expectations
Cast Member Information
What to Wear: Participants in TWS programs must wear closed-toe shoes without exception. NO sandals, flip-flops, clogs, Crocs, Heelys, UGGs, boots or bare feet. During the winter months, appropriate footwear should be brought to theater as snow boots pose a danger to participants. Comfortable clothes that allow for creative movement within the rehearsals should be worn. Please tie back long hair.

What Not to Bring: i-Pods, DS’s, cell-phones and alike. No chewing gum. No balls. Please do not bring items which are precious to you. Do not bring anything made with peanuts or tree nuts.

Attendance Policies
Since we are a community that relies on one another for a mutual commitment to the process, attendance is critical. All planned absences must be approved in advance. Casting is influenced by the attendance commitment. Repeated unapproved absences can lead to recasting and/or dismissal from the cast.
If a TWS member is at school, they are expected at rehearsal. Contact Mrs. Fix if your child will be absent: [email protected] or contact cell (978 973-6553). Please call as soon as you know of the absence, and please do not rely on friends or classmates to deliver messages regarding absences. If your student is not at rehearsal and we have not heard from you, we will call the numbers you provided in order to locate the student.
Early dismissals are strongly discouraged, however, if your student must leave early for a valid reason, please send in a note or email us so that we can plan accordingly. It is very difficult to pull a student from a rehearsal of a scene. With notice, we will accommodate the early departure as best we can.

Dismissal Time
All students must be picked up in the lobby at the assigned end-time. Students are not permitted to wait outside or meet their ride at the curb. Adults must park in a marked parking space and come into the lobby. Please do not park directly outside the double doors at the auditorium as it blocks the passage for all other vehicles. If you arrive early for pick-up, please wait in the lobby until class is over.
If you wish to make special arrangements for someone else to pick up your student, we ask that you let us know in advance in writing.
Newbury School policy states that students are not permitted to return to their classrooms unattended once they are dismissed for the day. After Theater Workshop is dismissed anyone who needs to go to a classroom must be accompanied by their parent.

ABOUT OUR SHOWS AND CASTING: All of our plays are original scripts written for the cast by Stacey Fix. There is no formal audition process. During the first several weeks of rehearsal, theater exercises and assignments help to assess the challenges, needs, and abilities of each student. Parts are assigned. It is our goal to make students feel that they are an important member of an ensemble cast. Please encourage your students to participate fully and share their talents, interests, humor, and ideas.
